FNA salivary gland

Mucocoele

A salivary gland retention cyst can present as a unilateral or bilateral swelling.
Aspirates characteristically yield tenacious transparent material resembling saliva.
Smears contain numerous macrophages amongst the thick background mucoid material.
No inflammatory cells and no epithelium are seen.
